H.G. Wells letters and typescript, 1906-1943.

The collection consists of thirty one hand-written letters and postcards, 1906-1943. The postcards feature photos of the Wells house at Easton Glebe, Dunmow. The letters are to various friends and associates largely on personal business; includes a series of nine letters to R.D. Blumenfeld, editor of the Daily Express. The letters to S.P.B. Mais, Gerald Gould, F.A.S. Russell, and Emily Balch, and others include comments on his publications, the writings of others, and brief references to the Fabians and socialism. A letter to Canon Deane mentions Ezra Pound. Also, typescript of the teleplay The Magic Shop, to have been produced 1 Dec. 1943, with a note from Wells and a letter from his wife dated 15 July 1943, returning the typescript to Miss Sutcliffe.
